If you stroll along New York City’s High Line, right at the intersection of 10th Avenue and 30th Street, you might come across a pigeon that’s slightly larger than usual. In October 2024, a colossal, hyper-realistic, 16-foot-tall pigeon named “Dinosaur” made its debut.

    The Artist and His Inspiration

This impressive sculpture was created by a Colombian artist who now resides and works in Paris. By naming his work “Dinosaur,” the creator aimed to highlight a fascinating fact: pigeons are direct descendants of dinosaurs. This evolutionary connection served as the inspiration for the piece, celebrating New York City’s most iconic urban bird.

    Celebrating an Urban Icon

Although often underestimated or even ignored, pigeons are an intrinsic part of New York City’s landscape. This sculpture pays homage to their resilience and adaptability—qualities that reflect the very spirit of the city itself.

    A Prolonged Exhibition

“Dinosaur” will be on display for a year and a half, offering both locals and tourists the chance to admire this unique artwork and reflect on its meaning. With its colossal size and detailed realism, the sculpture is expected to attract not only art enthusiasts but also curious visitors eager to understand the connection between pigeons and dinosaurs.
